Outreach

It involves expanding the platform's audience. The ‘Have Your Say!' platform’s current level of public outreach and engagement is not living up to its potential.

Transparency

Transparency is vital for institutional accountability and informed participation in online public consultation. Improving transparency means clearer guidelines, IT enhancements, moderation, and centralizing data.

Accessibility

A website should be designed and created for all people, considering the needs of people with disabilities. It is important to bear in mind the diverse range of users. This will help engage users with disabilities with the platform.

Who we are

We are a group of PhD candidates and researchers working together with an interdisciplinary approach

We strive to improve digital public consultations in the European Union.

Our group includes a multitude of disciplines such as computer science, international law, political science, international relations, digital government, communication, and classics.

We have produced a set of recommendations to improve the EU’s ‘Have Your Say!’ platform. The founding pillars of our recommendations are simple: increased accessibility, increased transparency and increased outreach. These three elements are crucial for the EU to improve its online public consultation system and thereby address criticism regarding its democratic legitimacy.
