Portal2EU featured in Improving Inclusiveness of IO Rule-Making

Apart from works on the open-access policy report, the Portal2EU team concurrently established cooperation with OECD as part of works on the edited volume on Improving Inclusiveness of IO Rule-Making. The volume will be published by OECD Publishing within the framework of the Partnership of international organisations for effective international rulemaking (IO Partnership).

The Portal2EU focused on analysing the case of the EU’s digital public consultations (namely: the ‘Have Your Say!’ platform) in contrast to public consultation practices established in other international bodies, such as the World Bank. Although our recommendations were designed for the ‘Have Your Say!’ platform, they may become a point of reference for other public consultation platforms as well.

Our paper, entitled “Digital Public Consultations: Lessons from the European Union”, is an outcome of an 18-month-long policy project performed as part of the Europaeum Scholars Programme. Although our recommendations were designed for the ‘Have Your Say!’ platform, they may become a point of reference for other public consultation platforms as well.

The publication process involved discussion of contributions between editors and authors, followed by submission of the contribution to the OECD and the possibility of receiving feedback from OECD members.

The final contributions will be published first online on the IO Partnership website (over the period September–December). This corresponds with the 10th Annual Meeting of the Partnership of IOs for Effective Rule-Making. Finally, all contributions will be combined in an edited volume published by OECD Publishing which is expected to be released at the beginning of 2024.
